We started with a box of cards that never got sent
Every family has one. A carton of leftover wedding cards in a cupboard, the ones printed for guests who were eventually invited by phone, or by a forwarded photo, or not at all because the courier never found the address. They were beautiful, and they did very little.
Meanwhile the real invitation was happening somewhere else. In a WhatsApp group where someone asked which day the Sangeet was, for the fourth time. In a notebook where a cousin kept a running tally of who had said yes. In a frantic round of calls when the Mehndi moved indoors because of the rain.
Invitara is our attempt to bring those two halves back together. An invitation that still feels like something you open, with a seal to break, a door to swing apart, a song that starts as it does. And behind it, a quiet dashboard that does the counting, keeps the plan current and lets you reach everyone at once.
We are a small team in India, and we build for the way celebrations actually work here: many days, many families, guests in five cities and three time zones, elders who need it to be simple and cousins who want it to be fun. We have started with weddings, birthdays, housewarmings, engagements and baby showers. Anniversaries are next.
What we hold ourselves to
The invitation is the first part of the party
It is the first thing guests hold, even if they hold it on a phone. It should make them smile, and make them want to be there.
Hosts should never chase replies
Counting heads on a notebook in the week before a wedding helps no one. Replies should arrive, add up and sort themselves.
Your guest list is yours
No account, no marketing lists, nothing sold. One private link opens your dashboard, and your data is deleted soon after the event.
Free should mean free
Designing, publishing and collecting replies cost nothing. Nothing to unlock, and no surprise at the last step.
